G.J. Sullivan Company Excess & Surplus Lines Brokers has acquired Network E&S Insurance Brokers’ book of California business.

David Gorin and Sherri Gust will join GJS E&S, and will operate from Sullivan’s Orange County, Calif. office. Gorin will be responsible for servicing Network’s book of business and acquiring new business for all lines.

G. J. Sullivan Company acts as a wholesaler, providing a variety of retail agents and brokers across the United States with access to the top North American and international surplus lines insurance markets. Specialized programs include directors & officers, tow trucks, trucking and restaurants. The G.J. Sullivan Company Excess & Surplus Lines Brokers is a member of The Sullivan Group consortium founded in 1933.

Marsh & McLennan Agency Acquires Michigan’s McGraw Wentworth

Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC (MMA), a subsidiary of Marsh Inc., has acquired McGraw Wentworth Inc., an employee group benefits consulting and brokerage firm based in Troy, Mich. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1997 by Thomas P. McGraw and William D. Wentworth, McGraw Wentworth has annual revenues of approximately $15 million. The firm offers a broad range of strategic benefit consulting services to midsize organizations including manufacturers, automotive suppliers, financial services, non-profits, public schools and local municipalities.

McGraw Wentworth will operate out of MMA’s upper Midwest hub, expanding MMA’s footprint into Michigan. All of the firm’s 72 employees including Thomas McGraw and William Wentworth will join MMA and continue operating out of their existing office.

Arthur J. Gallagher Acquires Insurance Risk Managers of Missouri

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has acquired Insurance Risk Managers of Missouri Inc. in St. Louis. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1996, Insurance Risk Managers of Missouri (IRM) is a retail insurance broker providing commercial property/casualty and risk management insurance services for clients throughout the United States. The firm specializes in insurance coverage for the moving and storage industry including owner/operator segments.

Patrick E. McAleenan, Novis D. Adkins and their associates will continue to operate in St. Louis under the direction of Mike Henthorn, head of Gallagher’s South Central retail property/casualty brokerage operation.

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., an international insurance brokerage and risk management services firm, is headquartered in Itasca, Ill.

EPIC Acquires Homeplace Insurance Brokers in Southern California

Edgewood Partners Insurance Center entered into an agreement to acquire Ontario, Calif.-based Homeplace Insurance Brokers Inc.

The Ontario team will report to Dan Ryan, EPIC’s managing principal in Orange County.

Homeplace specializes in the design and oversight of risk management and insurance programs for the transportation, warehousing and logistics industries, with an emphasis in trucking coverages. The privately-held company is owned by founder Judy L. Busam.

EPIC operates from nine offices across California: Los Angeles, Irvine, Ontario, Fresno, Folsom, San Francisco, San Mateo, Petaluma and San Ramon.

N.J. Brokerage Bollinger Acquires The Morville Agency

Short Hills, N.J.-based insurance brokerage Bollinger Inc. has acquired The Morville Agency of Newton, N.J.

The Morville Agency specializes in insuring New Jersey public entities. The agency’s owner George Morville joins Bollinger as senior vice president in the commercial lines division.

Bollinger’s chief operating officer, Matthew Gardner, said the acquisition provides Bollinger with an opportunity to grow its public entity business. The Morville agency team will be actively involved in helping Bollinger expand this segment throughout the company’s entire footprint, he said.

Bollinger is headquartered in Short Hills, N.J., with branch offices in Greenwich, New York, Philadelphia, and additional N.J. locations in Holmdel, Moorestown, Newton, Sparta and Vineland. It has over 500 employees and is ranked as one of the country’s largest privately owned insurance brokerage.

Bollinger offers services in: personal insurance; commercial property/casualty insurance; life, health and financial services; employee benefits; sports programs; golf, country and city clubs; student insurance; broker products; and risk management services.

Stahlka Agency Acquires Historic Square Agency’s Western N.Y. Practice

Stahlka Agency, an independent insurance agency and member of the EMS Group, based in Williamsville, N.Y., acquired the Western New York practice of Erie, Penn.-based Historic Square Insurance Agency. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Stahlka Agency, an independent agency serving the Western New York market, will merge Historic Square’s office in Orchard Park, N.Y., into its existing Orchard Park location near Buffalo.

USI Insurance Services Acquires Assets of National Insurance Specialists

USI Insurance Services announced it has closed on the acquisition of certain assets of Toledo, Ohio-based National Insurance Specialists (NIS).

The acquisition is expected to contribute approximately $1.6 million in revenues to USI on an annual basis. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquired entity will be integrated into USI Affinity, a division of USI Insurance Services. The transaction makes USI Affinity the number one equipment rental industry insurance broker in the country, according to the announcement.

Doug W. Kreitzberg, CEO of USI Affinity, noted that USI and NIS have many years of combined experience handling rental industry accounts.

PGI Acquires N.Y.-Based Program Administrator American Altair Group

PGI Commercial, the U.S. program manager of Bermuda-based insurance distributor Primary Group, has acquired the assets American Altair Group.

American Altair Group (AAG), based in Hauppauge, N.Y., is a full-service program administrator that specializes in commercial real estate risks. AAG has significant representation in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. PGI Commercial said AAG’s book of business will further complement PGI’s existing book of real estate business which is primarily West Coast-based.

PGI Commercial manages property and casualty programs on a nationwide basis with offices in Naples, Fla., Marlton, N.J., and Anaheim, Calif.

The AAG deal is part of PGI Commercial’s strategy of building out its underwriting platforms. PGI Commercial said the acquisition of AAG will give PGI a strong presence in the Northeast and particularly in the commercial real estate sector.

John Ustaoglu, current president of AAG, will join PGI Commercial as executive vice president and will continue to be based out of Hauppauge, N.Y., with his existing team.
